Irie Sol's founder, Junior Williams, moved to America from Kingston, Jamaica, with the dream of starting a band that would fuse the genres (reggae, dancehall, ska, and dub) indigenous to his native island with traditional American music forms (hip hop, funk, soul, rock, and jazz). He's "dubbed" (pun intended) the resulting music "Alternative World" to acknowledge its roots and routes in World and Alternative music and to conjure an alternative world of global unity. Erupting out of the Twin Cities with a musical blend that reflects diverse band members--who hail from Kingston, Jamaica; Nova Scotia, Canada; Providence, RI; Detroit, MI; Minneapolis, MN; and the Chippewa Valley of Wisconsin--Irie Sol delivers authentic Jamaican chat/DJing and soaring, soulful melodies backed by blazing bebop horns, wailing guitar, and tight drum and bass. Irie Sol has shared the stage with Natty Nation, Dred I Dred, Justin Vernon of Bon Iver, and too many other talented musicians to name. Irie Sol's music can be enjoyed at live shows throughout the midwest, on many radio programs, and by downloading the new CD, Solstice, on itunes.

REGGAE FUNK ROCK FOR THE MASSES. A Miracle In Motion Zion Tribe has played many venues festival grounds and block parties, including Harmony Park, the Metro Dome, Cabooze, Fine Line, Dogstock and shared stages with Great American Taxi, Pap Mali, Banyon, Edgar Winter, and others.
Harmony Park Harvest Fest 2003 : The fire was burning bright. The sounds of drums and chanting filled the air, it was late of course. The stage was cold and empty. Joshua looked at me and smiled "It's Time" So I grabbed my Guitar and he his dejimbe. This was not the first time we had done this, but we had no idea what lay in store. Without stages, lights or amplifiers we won the crowd that night. Song after song rose from our hearts and soon we were joined by another guitarist and a horn player and more drummers. Numbers have been exaggerated as to just how many people were there that night. Truth is no one really knows. For the rest of the weekend every one asked: "What band are you in? You're Not? Well you should be." And from the ashes of that Harvest Fest fire circle rose Zion Tribe. Zion Tribe found itself returning to Harmony Park, this time on the main stage. Shortly after all the members were solidified Zion Tribe began to work with Travis and Lynna a couple of fire spinning, fire eating, fire spitting, and fire dancing performing artist. This of-course really gets the crowds going. They have been known to add more fire performers to larger shows. However Zion Tribe has always stayed grounded in there music and excites crowds with or without their friendly fire performers. Website: http://www.myspace.com/ZIONTRIBEJAMS |
